

Meet Dr. Syn & Dr. Neal


Dr. SYN
Dr. Shameka Y. Neely-Fairbanks, affectionately known as Dr. SYN is a health educator, equity champion, communications consultant, and a former journalist.

Dr. SYN’s passion as a journalist and health communications professional focuses on increasing awareness on health disparities that plague underrepresented groups. She uses the art of storytelling to bring awareness to community issues through encouragement and education.
Dr. SYN’s goal is to educate underserved populations on health disparities and influence change within the community.
She has numerous accolades including, but not limited to: Indiana University, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Building Bridges Staff Award, National Association for Black Journalists (NABJ) the Salute to Excellence Award, Emmy Nominee for one of two documentaries she produced and directed. Her diligent efforts in the community haven’t gone unnoticed.

Dr. Neal
Dr. Nae’Shara D. Neal has more than 15 years or teaching and instructional leadership experience. She is a true biologist with a passion for youth and science.
She has had numerous positions in education such as a teacher, instructional coach, and instructional principal.
Dr. Neal’s experience and stellar leadership led to being selected as the master teacher at the Metro Nashville Public School (MNPS) Demonstration School in which she opened her classroom to principals and teachers across the district to model best practices.
Dr. Neal is currently the Executive Principal in a prominent academic magnet middle school in Nashville, Tennessee.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her son.
